By Appointment to His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Suppliers of Print & Stationery
The Wren Press is honoured to hold two Royal Warrants — a mark of recognition granted to people and companies who have regularly supplied goods or services to The Royal Household for at least five consecutive years.
We are delighted to have recently been awarded The King's Warrant for a further five years and equally proud to have been newly granted The Queen's Warrant. Held under His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla, our Royal Warrants reflect more than a quarter-century of consistent excellence in printing and stationery.
These honours represent standards we maintain not just for the Royal Household but for every client we serve.
What the Royal Warrant Means
A Royal Warrant is not awarded lightly and it requires:
• Proven quality – at least five years of continuous supply to exacting standards
• Sustained excellence – ongoing performance that meets Royal Household expectations
• Ethical practice – a demonstrated commitment to sustainability and responsible business conduct
The Wren Press has held its Warrants through decades of technological change and market evolution because we have never compromised on what matters: precision, reliability and craftsmanship.
Craftsmanship at the Heart of Everything We Do
The Wren Press is the only luxury stationer with its own in-house master engraver. With 30 years of experience, he was the last full five-year apprentice within the trade of engraving, indentured to the Worshipful Stationers' Hall and granted the Freedom of the City of London. The detail he sculpts into each die gives our work a finesse and quality unparalleled in the industry.
Our Printing Techniques
• Engraving – Our hand-engraved dies are etched onto copper from the original artwork and then hand engraved. Iconic to The Wren Press, they are notable for their exceptional quality and luxurious effect — the pinnacle of printing craftsmanship.
• Die Stamping – Particularly effective in metallics for monograms, crests and logos, die stamping lends a luxurious quality that cannot be replicated. Each bespoke die is hand-engraved by our skilled craftsmen onto a copper plate, achieving extraordinarily detailed images.
• Foil Blocking – A specialty printing process using heat, pressure, metal dies and foil film. A favourite with our customers in gold, silver, copper and holographic metallic foils, also available in solid colours and in both glossy and matte finishes.
• Blind Embossing & Debossing – A metal die creates a subtly raised (or indented) image that can be felt as well as seen. A careful choice of paper enhances the effect.
• Bevelling – A truly luxurious option, bevelled edges are foiled by hand in several fine layers, creating a unique gleaming finish — most striking on thicker card.
• Ribboning – Our expert finishers hand-tie from a wide selection of ribbon colours and textures, or work with ribbons supplied by you.
• Hand-Painted Borders – A hand-painted border adds a truly personal touch to cards and paper, with the ink visible on the front for a distinctive finish.
• Edging – Hand-painted coloured edging that complements or contrasts with the print, particularly effective on letterheads and correspondence cards.
• Envelope Lining – Hand-lined envelopes in coloured tissue or paper to match your invitation or ink colour, giving the finished piece a unique flourish.
Every commission, whether for the Royal Household or a private client, is produced with the same meticulous attention.

About The RWHA
The Royal Warrant Holders Association was formed in 1840 to ensure the continued existence of the Royal Warrant as a treasured institution. Today it continues to assist with the administration of Warrants, as well as advising members on all Royal Warrant matters. The Association is not part of the Royal Household, but belongs to its members. Membership is open to all Warrant-holding companies. Alongside its partners, the Association offers a full events programme and opportunities for members to connect at a national level and through its local associations. It also supports selected charities through its Charity and craftspeople via QEST. Once a year, the Association also awards the Plowden Medal for advancement within the conservation profession.
History
The history of the Royal Warrant can be traced back to medieval times, when competition for Royal favour was intense and the Monarch had the pick of the country's best tradespeople. By the 15th century, the Lord Chamberlain, as head of the Royal Household, formally appointed tradespeople with a Royal Warrant of Appointment – a practice that continues to this day. In the 18th century, Royal tradesmen began displaying the Royal Arms on their premises and stationery. In 1840, the Royal Warrant Holders Association was formed.
